Essence of Chi are quickly becoming renowned
for throwing parties that combines all angles of drum n
bass from deep to dancefloor with an electric atmosphere,
whilst paying special attention to sound, light, space,
and of course the all-important quality DJ and MC line up
fused together to achieve the perfect balance.
EOC held a residency at Plan B in Brixton for 12 months,
one of South London’s finest small venues. Fully kitted
out with wall to wall Funktion One sound, Plan B proved
to be the perfect first home. |
| The first EOC residents were scene veteran
DJ Kane and newcomer DJ T1 alongside EOC founder MC LowQui.
Essence of Chi quickly became a growing family with different
artists becoming integral to the night over time. Artificial
Intelligence, Nookie, TC1 & Stress Level, Zero Tolerance,
Sabre ,MCs Five Alive, Ken Mac and live Saxophone player “Stu
on Sax” have all been key figures in the development
of Essence of Chi. Likewise Essence of Chi has also played
a role in propelling some of their up and coming artists such
as Healing Crew, MC K Eye and MC Bassline into the spotlight.
EOC Artists the agency was also born out of Essence of Chi
and continues to push the talents of established and up and
coming artists alike. |

Essence of Chi has come a million miles
since its humble beginnings in Brixton, with successful tour
nights around the UK in locations such as Brighton (Ignition),
Oxford (Kinetic), Portsmouth (Aura), Guildford (Rotation)
and most recently Leeds (Momentum). |
| EOC left Plan B in February 2005 in preparation
for their massive First Birthday celebration alongside London
Zu at The Scala Kings Cross which took place on Saturday 19th
March 2005. Headline guests included Zinc, Friction and a
world exclusive back to back from Calibre with Zero Tolerance.
With a 900 strong crowd this was in many people’s opinions
the party of the year. EOC went on to assist London Zu in
a further two events at the Scala in October 2005 and June
2006. |

From June 2005 Essence of Chi’s new
regular residency was at Herbal in Shoreditch where they were
to stay for a year and a half moving from a monthly Wednesday
slot like they had been in Plan B, to a Friday night which
had double the capacity through the doors of the club on two
occasions. |
Essence of Chi were fast becoming known not only for their ability
to throw a great party, but also their promotional skills both
on and off the street. Several established promoters had began
to call upon them to host rooms at their events. The first of
these was Moondance at the end of 2005 where EOC hosted an arena
at SE One on New Years Eve. This was among their biggest achievements
to date and paved the way for them to work with other big name
promoters in 2006, namely Ministry of Sound twice where they hosted
the Baby Box with great success, and Renegade Hardware where they
hosted a 1000 capacity arena on Carnival Weekend. Other notable
events in 2006 include their Second Birthday bash at Hidden in
Vauxhall, and also two of the Healing Crew’s “Healing
Soundz” nights at Ginglik in Shepherds Bush which were co-promoted
with EOC.
